How do you explain genes to a 3 year old?
December 31st, 2007 by writeontherunThe lunch time discussion:
“Hey, Natalie can curl her tongue. She must have gotten Kirk’s genes, ’cause I can’t do it.”
“Tanner, can you curl your tongue?”
“I can do it!”(3 year old sticks tongue straight out from mouth.)
“T, can you curl up the sides? Did you get your daddy’s genes?”
“I can do it!” (sticks tongue straight out from mouth again.) Pause. “What happens if I get daddy’s pants?”
Ummm….the ensuing “jeans” vs. “genes” talk was not very enlightening to the three year old, I think. I’m not even sure it was enlightening to me, and I was doing the talking.
As for the gym, an easy hour on the elliptical and hills on the TM. I’m a bit sore from running hills and weights, so I wanted an easy time today. Hope to convince Kim to run tomorrow (what’s a little hangover, right? Not mine…I’ll bet a dollar I’m in bed by 10 pm). Anyway, it’s New Year’s Day, so we can go and run with the multitudes who made “run” their New Year’s Resolution.
A total side note, my lucky husband got off work early today and is going to ski for a couple hours. It’s clear and blue and beautiful and there’s pretty new snow at the pass. Good for him! (and hooray for next year when we all have season’s passes!)
Happy New Year!
