About:writeontherun

Location: North Bend WA USA 98045

I'm a lucky woman who loves her life. I have an amazing husband who makes me laugh and challenges me all at the same time I have two very young, bright, funny, entertaining children and a job I love as a physcial therapist. In my free time, I'm a runner (slow but sure), a hiker, a writer (at least by avocation), and a human jungle gym for my little ones. This is my third 1/2 marathon, along with a couple fulls, but my first foray back into distance running since the two back-to-back little ones. (My running partner's favorite fact about me is that my kids are 363 days apart.) It's also my first attempt at any type of blogging, and I'm basically computer illiterate, so hang in there with me.

double up?

April 3rd, 2008 by writeontherun

Kim called after the morning cancel, craving an evening run. I met her just after bedtime (which my loving husband finished alone), dreading the evening run just a touch. It was the best run! We always joke that we would be much faster in daylight. Turns out it’s true. It was a blast and I hope we do it again as it gets light a little later still.

When your running partner comes through by not coming through

April 3rd, 2008 by writeontherun

Kim called to cancel our run this morning. Sick kiddo. The catch? I left my phone downstairs. I did think to check it before I left, but not until after I was out of bed, dressed and awake. Really, why go back to bed at that point? Off to the gym I went. You know what? I HATE THE TREADMILL!. That was 2.6 of the slowest, hardest, hilliest, most painful miles ever. Love running outside. Hate the ‘mill. Oh well, at least I did it.

I love running in the snow!

March 30th, 2008 by writeontherun

And today was perfect for it. Just a couple inches, good footing. It’s quiet and peaceful and so pretty. Muffled footfalls.

And crazy dogs!

I took the pups on the first mile, then let them off leash to run and play at the empty, empty park. I guess everybody must have been hibernating in the snow. Watching eskies play in the snow is so funny. You can’t watch them have a romp and not smile.

Left them home for the next bit and just enjoyed the snow for myself. Spent some time with friends this morning (yeah! babysitter!) and am off this afternoon to take two small children swimming and to grandma’s. (A special request from Tanner, that visit.) Speaking of Tanner, he’s upstairs now, doing anything he can to avoid napping. Time for him to “get up” soon anyway. Ahhh, the joys of 3!

My husband kicked me out…

March 29th, 2008 by writeontherun

…of the house, for being so grumpy that I was difficult to be around. He sent me anywhere, but suggested the gym. I skipped a Saturday morning class for a party for my daughter. The party was very cute and very fun (7 little girls running around) but I learned that I should NOT skip the gym. I’m, um, not very nice when I do, it seems. So, I left, sat in the hot tub, swam, sat in the hot tub. Came home much happier. Love my husband!
